I own a Shark stick vacuum, but it's starting to fall apart so I was looking for an upgrade and spotted this Prolux brand vacuum and figured I'd give it a shot.Things I love:The build quality is really nice, the parts fit and finish all look great and work well. Connecting and removing the extensions, adapters, filters, and canisters were a little tricky at first, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. The suction is enough for quick cleans around the house, I imagine other reviewer's issues with the suction is in part due to the HEPA filtration. I tested it side-by-side with my corded upright Shark on a carpeted area, and it seems to have picked up just as much.My Shark stick isn't 100% hypoallergenic, so I was happy that this one does a better job filtering out dust with a HEPA filter.I love that it shows the battery level with a bar and percentage left. The roller is so easy to remove, clean, and cut hair from thanks to recessed grooves. The only way to take the roller out of my Shark stick is to completely dismantle it.Swapping batteries out is nice when needed, as my Shark had a non-removable battery. Nothing is more annoying having to pause a chore 3/4 into it to drag out the heavy corded upright. I read that other reviewers have battery life issues, but I haven't really needed to swap batteries out. Though, your mileage may vary as every house/apartment size is different.I love that it's very light weight, I never knew how heavy my Shark stick vacuum was until I used this one! It makes cleaning carpeted stairs so much better. With Shark stick vacuums, you press the trigger to turn on, and release to turn off. With the Prolux, you press and release to turn on, and press and release to turn off. I think I like the Prolux trigger better, as you don't have to keep holding on to keep it on, giving the user a bit more flexibility on how they want to hold it.The head of the roller swivels really easily to articulate it into tight spaces, which is on par or better than the Shark stick. Thanks to its low profile roller, It makes it easy to clean under low clearance furniture. My Shark stick has a feature that allows the extension to bend, making it so you don't need to get on the floor to reach back into a low clearance area. The Prolux doesn't have this, but I honestly didn't use it that much on the Shark in the first place. The extension handle is expandable, making it easy to get to tall, hard to reach places. But it's also ergonomically beneficial, as you can adjust based on your height. The wall mounted dock charger is a really nice option to have. If you don't want to use the dock, you can charge the batteries directly with the same cord that plugs into the dock, even when the battery is inserted into the vacuum.Things I don't love:I really wish the vacuum could stand on its own, or at the very least allow the roller and extension to stand on its own. It's a little annoying having to find a place to lean it when I need stop cleaning or swap accessories. While my Shark stick couldn't stand in its normal mode, the extension tube could bend the unit in half allowing the entire unit it to stand. When removed, the Shark roller and extension tube could also stand on its own.I feel it's slightly lacking on hardwood floors. Our first test was to see if it picked up a few Cheerios with the roller attachment, but it couldn't. We needed to mash them up a bit to get it small enough to suck up. So with that in mind, it'll pick up smaller particulates but larger ones may merit the stick attachment.I wish the suction level remembered which setting I had it on, or at least reset after a longer period of being off. It's kind of annoying having it reset to the medium setting every time you press the trigger when you want it constantly at full power.Due to the battery charging cable either being used with the dock or plugged directly into a battery, you can only charge one battery at a time. There isn't a way to charge the battery directly with the dock, it must be inserted into the vacuum and docked. Or you can unplug the dock and plug the charging cable directly into the battery. Due to this, I find myself favoring one battery rather than cycling through the other two, which will have uneven charge usage over time. This isn't a big deal, but it would just be nice to utilize one charging method if I opted to use the charging dock.Overall:While it's a good stick vacuum and definitely an upgrade over my $100ish refurbished Shark stick, I really wanted to be wowed due to this Prolux being over 4 times the value. If you catch this on sale, it's a nice alternative to Dyson and Shark!
