How to Assemble a ProTeam Tool Kit

We sell ProTeams and ProTeam accessories. And today, Kyle will show you how to put a ProTeam tool kit together, and make sure it stays together.

These kits are 1 ½ inch diameter and will work with many brands of commercial backpack vacuums, including our GV 6QT backpack vacuum!

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Instructions

In this video we are using a standard 1.5” ProTeam tool kit, which is found on most ProTeams on the market. The kit includes a hose, two wands, a floor tool, and some general attachments.

We will start with the wands, since these usually give people the most trouble.

The bare wand, with no plastic at the ends, is the upper wand portion.

The other wand, with plastic on each end, is the lower wand portion.

The end with the twisting collar is where you will insert your attachments.

The other end with the locking mechanism will keep the top wand in place.

To connect the wands, start by taking the upper wand portion. You will notice that there is a groove.

In the lower wand portion, there is a raised plastic notch.

Just line the notch up with the groove and slide the upper portion in.

If you’re having trouble sliding them together, take a Phillips head screw driver and loosen the set screw at the locking mechanism.

Once you’re at your desired height you can lock the tab down.

Once the wands are together you can attach your tools. If you were to remove the twisting collar at the end of the lower wand portion and look inside, you’d see a metal brass C ring. As you tighten the collar down this ring will close on the grooves located on the tool, which keeps it from falling off as you clean.

Insert your attachment and tighten the plastic collar. As you do so make sure the ring sits in the groove. If your tools are falling off, make sure you are tightening the collar all the way and that the metal ring is seated in the groove.

Lastly, take the hose part of the kit. You will notice that the hose has two different ends. One is straight and the other has a 90-degree elbow. The elbow goes into the top of your ProTeam and the straight end attaches to the upper wand portion.

The upper wand portion has this raised section at the end.

To connect the hose, you will just push it on until it is over the raised groove. If the hose seems too stiff and won’t go on you can use a hair drier to soften the plastic.
