Maintenance Tip for Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners
People that own Rainbow vacuums love them! To keep your Rainbow working great, you’ll need to do some regular maintenance. This video goes over three simple tips to keep your Rainbow vacuum cleaner in tip top shape!
Important Safety Tips
- Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
- Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
- Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.

Instructions
Our first tip (and probably the most important) is that when you finish vacuuming, remove the water bowl and dump out the water, DO NOT put the water bowl back! If you put everything back together the moisture from the damp water bowl can be attracted to the heat of the bearings. You may not notice a problem for 5-10 years, but those bearings may eventually seize up. We recommend just setting the bowl on top of your vacuum. This simple tip can add another 10-15 years of life to your Rainbow!
The second tip is to keep your vacuum clean! Check your brush roll and make sure there isn’t hair or carpet fibers wrapped around it. Your brush roll should spin freely and you should be replacing your belts on time.
The third maintenance tip is to clean your water separator. This should be done at least 2-3 times per year. To remove the water separator you’ll remove the canister, turn it upside down, and then remove the brass bolt in the middle. Take out the water separator and take it over to the sink, where you can scrub it with a brush (like an old toothbrush.)
If you follow those three tips your Rainbow vacuum will last you a very long time!
