This video works for ALL Rainbow E series vacuum cleaners!
The first thing you’ll want to do is take off your water bowl. To do this release the latches and lift off.
You’ll notice on the water bowl that there is a tab that sticks up about half an inch. The edges should all be nice and smooth, so if yours has any jagged edges it’s broken and you’ll have to replace your water bowl.
If that’s good and the rest of your water bowl looks good, including the areas where the latches fit, then your water bowl likely isn’t the problem.
Before putting the water bowl back on take a look at the latches. If those are cracked or broken in any way the water bowl probably isn’t getting latched tight enough which will also cause the vacuum to not turn on.
If you look underneath you will see a safety switch. This gets pressed by the water bowl when it’s latched in place. It has to be pressed for the vacuum to turn on!
So, let’s check this switch! You will need to be super careful, because the middle of the vacuum will spin very fast when you turn it on! Keep your hands and anything else clear of that whole area.
Plug your vacuum in, press the safety switch, and turn it on. If your vacuum turns on you know the safety switch is functioning so the problem is with the water bowl.
Once you’ve checked all of those parts, go ahead and reattach your water bowl and turn the vacuum on. If it turns on, then you’re all set. If it doesn’t send us an email at service@greatvacs.com and we can help.
If you have a Rainbow E Series Black you will notice that it has a red light on the front. If the red light turns on the vacuum won’t turn on. In this case there is probably a problem with the hose, wand, or power nozzle. Make sure the hose is plugged into the vacuum, the hose is plugged into the wands, and that the wands are plugged into the power head. If all the connections are clean, snug, and free of moisture you can check the bottom of your power nozzle. If the brush roll is clogged it will prevent the vacuum from turning on. If you check all of that and the vacuum still won't turn on, email us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help!
