How to Replace an E Series Rainbow HEPA Filter

How to Replace an E Series Rainbow HEPA Filter

This is a how-to-video on replacing the HEPA filter on any E Series Rainbow vacuum cleaner. In this video we show two different ways, both ways only take a few minutes.

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Tools

  • Phillips head screwdriver (for older models)
  • Flat head screwdriver (for all models)

Newer Model Instructions

The vacuum we’re using in this demonstration is a Rainbow E series E2 Black. Since it is one of the newer models, we only need to flat head screwdriver to help pop the tabs open. If you look at the bottom, after you remove the wheel dolly, you’ll notice two tabs.

Insert your flat head screwdriver into the groove and pry up. Repeat with the other tab.

Once the back plate is loose, you can just remove it and set it aside.

Now remove the filter.

To put your new filter in you need to line the tab on the bottom up with the slot in the vacuum cleaner and it will set in place.

To put the filter cover on you’ll want to line up the tabs on the top with the holes on the vacuum and then snap the bottom back into place.

Older Model Instructions

Our older model for this demonstration is an E series 1 speed. The procedure for this is basically the same, except it uses screws to hold the filter cover in place. To get to the screws, you’ll need to remove this cord wrap piece.

Insert your flat head screwdriver into the groove on the side of the vacuum where it meets the cord wrap piece. Twist the screwdriver and the cord wrap will come off.

Use your Phillips head screwdriver and remove the four screws – two at the top and two at the bottom. Set these aside in a safe place.

Now remove the filter cover.

This gives you access to the HEPA filter. When you’re ready to install your new filter, you will need to orient it with the grill facing out and the tab in the slot at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.

Place the back plate back on.

Replace the screws.

Finally, pop the cord wrap piece back on! You’re done!
