Rainbow Vacuum HEPA Filters - Is Washable The Best?
One of the questions we get asked quite often is “Which is best? Disposable or washable HEPA filters?” Well, here’s your answer!
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t matter! But let’s go into the nitty gritty details about both kinds.
The washable filters are about double the cost of the disposable ones. People often think that the washable ones will last forever, but unfortunately, they don’t. It is recommended to replace these filters after 2-3 “uses.” Usually your HEPA filter needs replaced about once a year, but the washable ones can be washed and dried and used again. Well, used again about 2-3 times and then you still have to throw it away.
If you want to squeeze some more life out of your disposable filter you can actually take it out and use an air compressor to blast the dust and debris off. Again, they should be replaced about every year, but you might be able to squeeze some more time out of it by removing some dust.
Ultimately, you’re going to spend the same amount of money over the same period of time for either filter. That means you can pick the style you find the easiest!
