Converting A Prolux Central Vacuum Hose

Converting A Prolux Central Vacuum Hose

When you buy a Prolux Central Vacuum Hose or Hose Kit from GreatVacs, the hose comes standard with a U.S. 110 Volt 2-prong pigtail cord. Also included in the kit, however, is everything you need to convert your hose to a 2-prong direct connection that plugs into the wall with your hose.

We sell several styles of hoses that fit almost any central vacuum system. Most of our hoses come in 30’ or 35’ lengths and are either non-electric or 2 or 3 way switched. In this video, Kyle goes over some of the differences between the hoses, and you can choose the right one for you!

Important Safety Tips

  • Always make sure your machine is unplugged and the power button is turned off, before servicing your vacuum.
  • Always make sure your hands are dry and free from moisture before servicing your machine.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when servicing your machine to prevent any cuts or scrapes.
  • If you are uncomfortable working on your vacuum, please don’t hesitate to contact us at service@greatvacs.com and we can help you through the process or you can send it into us to fix it for you.

Tools

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers
  • The provided conversion kit
  • The Prolux hose

Instructions

Start by opening the plastic bag and removing the contents. Inside you will find instructions, the direct connection plug, and a safety plug. If you have any questions, please refer to the instructions!

Next, remove the hose cover. Use the screwdriver to push in the tab and then you will be able to slide the cover off.

Now you will be able to see the pigtail connection plug and its safety plug. Go ahead and remove the safety plug.

Take your needle nose pliers and pull the wires out of the pigtail cord terminals. Set the pigtail cord to the side.

Now take your direct connection plug and its safety plug and we can get it installed. Take note that the plug will be facing in the direction of the inlet where the hose gets plugged in.

Plug the wires into the direct connection plug and set it into the groove.

Then grab the safety plug and put that in.

Once everything is in position you can slide the cover back on. You will hear the tab snap back into place.

Congratulations! You successfully converted a pigtail to a direct connect!
